Open Water Diver

Now is the time to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure with PADI, the dive company that sets the standards in the global diving community.
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. Throughout the course, you'll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques.

The course program includes

  • five academic modules,
  • five confined water (pool) modules
  • and four ocean dives.

This class is performance based, we typically schedule the course over 4 half days. What we suggest is booking in advance and then you can have the PADI Open Water DVD and Manual ahead of time. PADI programs are performance based. You proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

medical certificate For safety, all students complete a brief questionnaire that asks about medical conditions that could be a problem while diving. As a precaution a physician must assess your physical condition to confirm that you're fit to dive. In Spain national laws require all scuba students to obtain a medical certificate before entering the Open Water Diver course.
We have a Doctor's next to the dive centre. He will be happy to undertake the brief physical examination and provide you with the required medal certificate.

Before completing the PADI Open Water Diver course, your instructor will have you demonstrate basic water skill comfort by having you swim 200 metres or 300 metres with a mask, snorkel and fins. There is no time limit for this, and you may use any swimming strokes you want. You will also float and tread water for 10 minutes, again using any methods that you want.

Scuba Moraira have designed dive courses with maximum flexibility to ensure we can meet your needs and give you every opportunity to learn to dive and take advantage of this fantastic sport in a beautiful diving location. We can offer a wide variety of schedules, paced according to how fast you progress.
Our instructor's interest is in your learning to scuba dive, not in how long you sit in a class. So, training is based upon demonstrating that you know what you need to know and can do what you need to do. This means that you progress at your own pace - faster or slower depending upon the time you need to become a confident scuba diver who dives regularly.
